Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Perhaps the most vital facet of Search Engine Optimization is achieved through effective link building. Not sure what link building is? Link building is basically the system of bringing in numerous direct links, which in turn bring in links of superior caliber. Attracting these superior caliber links to your Web page to increase your appearance in search results is the topic of this piece. Swapping Links with Partner Websites

To push your success even further, you have to think outside of the box; you have to come up with fresh ideas to get backlinks. Many people don’t know that you can use advertising to build backlinks or they don’t understand how to do it. However, it can turn out to be an effective way to kill 2 birds with one stone: drive targeted traffic and earn backlinks at the same time. The rules don’t change. You cannot just place ads on sites randomly and expect them to produce any results, you need to place your ads on sites where it makes sense. All ads increase the amount of links you have, whether they are classified ads or complete banner ads. You must try out different advertisements with varying costs and structures to be able to remain competitive with other sites in your field. Don’t go gung-ho right after you create it and place your advertisement on every website you can find. It is important that you are prepared to test your ad on multiple sites and track your results.

Link Building Method #2: Building Manual Links

It can take a lot of time and effort to build quality backlinks, but they will pay off in the end. There are times when people’s sites quickly lose their high rank and they are not sure of the reason. Search engine ranking will suffer if your sites lose too many backlinks. However, if you have gained backlinks, then why would you lose them? The answer lies in how you gain them. If you build all your backlinks using a cheap link building service requiring a monthly subscription, then you will lose all of them if you cancel your subscription. Losing all of these links can quickly lower your sites ranking. If you want more stable backlinks, then build them naturally. You can get better results much quicker by using IM Eye

Backlinks from Posting to Forums

A linking strategy that is often very effective is using the signature space often given to you when you post in an online forum. Since these forums get thousands of visitors a day, you can definitely leverage them and tap into this flow of traffic. It’s as simple as developing a signature with a link to your site. It both brings traffic to your site and gives you another link. You need to be sure that the forums you post in are related to your market so you don’t lower the quality of your backlinks. This is an easy strategy that is often ignored, but when done right can prove quite successful.

The key objective of any web site should be to attract visitors and before you build your web site you should have an understanding of how you are going to attract visitors. It doesn’t matter what content you intend to put on your web pages there can only be one reason for a web pages existence and that is to get people to visit it. You need a significant proportion of your traffic to come from the search engines. The most economical and focused traffic is delivered by the search engines.

Search engines stay in business by understanding what the user are searching for and delivering relevant results. The more relevant and precise the search results the better the user experience and therefore the greater the chance the user will user will return. User loyalty directly translates to a stronger brand and higher revenues for the search engines. You and your web pages face a similar challenge.Position yourself in the mind of your users as a relevant source of information and make them visit over and over again.

So how do you go about doing this?. There are two methods that you can use. You can pay for advertising, commonly known as Pay per Click or you can create great content and get people to link to it.

Search engines have a simple philosophy that nothing exists on the web without a keyword or a key phrase . The user typing a keyword or phrase into the search engine starts the search process. The search engine performs a look up on its enormous indexes to fetch a list of web pages that contain instances of the keyword and returns them in a predefined order of relevance. The search engines decision about what pages to display in the results are based upon two key factors relevance and authority.

Relevance is determined by the occurrence of keywords in the web page content and authority is largely derived from back links from other web pages. The number and authority of the back links to a web page help the search engine determine the position the web page will occupy in the list of pages.

Back links are the number one priority you should focus on in web page optimisation.

Back links have two major functions – routing traffic to your web pages and helping the search engines determine the ranking of your web pages in the results returned by a user search. Browsers who discover and click on back links containing keywords associated with their interests will be directed to your web pages. The text label on a back link is often commonly called ‘Anchor Text’ and is used by search engines in the algorithms that determine back link value. Back links fall into a range of values that are derived from origin and anchor text.

The authority on the page from which a back links originates can influence the potency of the link to your web page. The higher the authority of the web page ‘sending’ the back link the more authority is likely to received by your web pages.
